                  PARTS OF SPEECH 

English is one of the widely used language in worldwide. Every word in English language is a part of speech. The use and role of each word in a sentence denotes what part of speech it belongs to.

In this blog a short introduction of different parts of speech is made to the recall them at a single glance.

1. Noun- Nouns are those words which describe the name of a place, person, thing, animal or an idea.

Example- 1. New Delhi is capital of India.

2. Anu is an intelligent girl. 

3. He bought a pair of shoes. 

4. Many people have fear of darkness. 

2. Pronoun- Pronouns are the words that are used in place of nouns in a sentence to avoid the repetition of the noun.

The words I, he, she, it ,them, his, her, our, us, etc are some of the pronouns.

Example- 1. She is a teacher. 

                2. They are playing cricket. 

                3. I have completed my work. 

3. Adjective- Adjectives are those words which gives more information about the subject or describe the subject or the noun.

Example- 1. The weather was pleasant                              today. 

2. She wore a beautiful dress.

4. Verb- Verbs are the action words they describe the action or the work done by the subject or the noun.

Example- 1. They are going to market. 

                  2.Richa was writing a letter. 

5.Adverb- Adverbs are those words which describe about the verbs, adjectives or other adverbs in a sentence.

Example- 1. Savi reads newspaper                everyday.

  2. Can you please come quickly? 

6.Prepositions- Preposition are those words which shows the position of object or subject in a sentence.

The word such as in, on, at, above, below, in between,etcare some prepositions.

Example-1. The cat jumped over the wall. 

                2. The book is on the table. 

7. Conjunctions -Conjunctions are those words which connect two different sentences or two different parts of a sentence.

And, or, because, although,not only,etc are some of the conjunctions.

Example-1. Unless you work hard, you will not succeed

2. I bought some fruits and vegetables from the market. 

8. Interjections- interjections are those words which shows feelings or strong emotions. 

Oh!, wow!, Alas!, etc are some of the interjections.

Example- 1.Wow! What a beautiful dress she has worn.

   2. Yippee! We won the match.

With the help of this blog the parts of speech can be easily recalled and the usage of part of speech, how words functions in meaning and grammatically could be understood.
